Russian e-journals – new stage of development, integration problems

The article describes directions of Russian research and development in the sphere of academic e-journals. The authors adduce statistic materials characterizing work of several most successful e-journals throughout the history of their existence, including distribution of articles according to the subject and statistics of queries for journal materials. The article tries to spotlight typical authors of fully electronic journals.

Among other things the article discusses preserving integrity of journal materials and their archivation, organization of the whole technological chain “author – editorial staff – reviewer – editorial staff – site”, copyright protection, official registration of journals and several other legal problems.

The article outlines fully electronic journals existing in Russia reviewing their peculiarities, and adducing comparative classification. Special attention was paid to ways of indexing and search systems.

The paper presents major results on developing and implementing the technology of automated processing and introduction in corresponding databases (in particular, in the database of Scientific digital library of e-journals with regard to the present standards and recommendations). These results were achieved with support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research within the framework of the project 03-07-90252.
